Xi visits Heixiazi Island, stressing opening-up policy

On a three-day tour of Heilongjiang Province, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Heixiazi Island to emphasize the importance of opening-up.

Looking over the island, Heilong and Wusuli rivers from a pagoda, Xi said environmental protection should be a priority on the island, especially as infrastructure must be built to encourage more tourists to visit the area.

Xi urged the province, which has a long frontier with Russia, to vigorously participate in the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as an economic corridor joining China, Mongolia and Russia. Endi
