499 new foreign businesses register in Albania in 2016

The Albanian finance ministry declared that more than 499 new foreign businesses registered at the Albanian National Business Center during the first four months of 2016, confirming an upward trend in the start-up activity in Albania.

According to official ministry data, the number of new foreign businesses in the end of 2015 was over 1,000.

At a press conference Tuesday on the business environment, Albanian finance minister Arben Ahmetaj underlined, "foreign businesses are increasingly eyeing the Albanian market and their growing number definitely shows Albania offers great opportunities and profits, as well as challenges."

In 2015, foreign direct investment inflows in Albania were estimated at around 884 million euros (around 990 million U.S. dollars) compared to 869 million euro in 2014 and the number of enterprises with foreign capital rose by 13 percent. (1 euro = 1.12 U.S. dollars) Endit
