African countries prepare protocol on marine and coastal resources

Twenty-two African countries are working in Lome toward the elaboration of additional protocol to the Abidjan Convention on the protection and the development of their marine and coastal resources.

Experts of these countries from western, central and southern parts of Africa opened on Tuesday in Lome a three-day panel on the integrated management of coastal areas, official newspaper Togo-Presse reported on Wednesday.

The newspaper said that the session of Lome will result in the completion and the validation of projects and texts that have been prepared a year earlier during the first panel held in June 2015 in Accra, Ghana.

This is to supplement the articles of the draft of the additional protocol and its annex, as well as to adopt a new road map.

It will lead to the validation of additional protocol to Abidjan Convention which was adopted in 1981. Endit
