No foreign investors leaving Albania: PM

Xinhua, May 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Tuesday that no foreign investor was leaving his country, according to the Albanian Daily News.

Rama made the remarks while speaking to foreign investors, representatives of the international financial institutions stationed in Albania, as well as the diplomatic corps during a meeting organized by the government. Moreover, he assured foreign entrepreneurs in Albania that they enjoy the full support of the central government in solving every problem they encounter.

The foreign investors had expressed their concerns and dissatisfaction regarding the business environment in Albania.

Rama admitted that there were still problems, but noted that Albania's business environment on the whole was improving.

"I am the first to believe that there are a thousand and one reasons not to be satisfied with the situation in relation to all the services that we provide to the business, including the administration and the channels of bureaucracy that often become unbearable. But we want support and cooperation to do things together," said Rama.

He invited businessmen to submit proposals to the Ministry of Finance to help improve relevant procedures.

Patrick Pascal, manager of Selenice Bitumi, said that due to the fiscal package approved by the Albanian government without consideration of the business proposals, his company had to cut 80 jobs while its profits were going down as a result of high taxes. Endi
