Ajax announced the arrival of Peter Bosz as successor of head coach Frank de Boer on Tuesday night.
Bosz had a contract until mid-2017 with Maccabi Tel Aviv, but both clubs reached an agreement on the departure of the 52-year-old coach to Ajax. He will sign a contract until June 30, 2019 in Amsterdam. His current assistant Hendrie Kruzen also joins Ajax on a three-year contract.
In January this year the former Dutch international Bosz left Vitesse Arnhem to move to Maccabi, with which he finished second in the Israeli league and lost the State Cup final 1-0 to Maccabi Haifa on Tuesday. As a head coach he previously also worked for De Graafschap and Heracles Almelo in the Netherlands and he was technical director at Feyenoord.
After five-and-a-half year at the helm, winning four league titles, Frank de Boer decided to leave Ajax this summer. One of the main goals of new coach Bosz, who is known for his attacking style of playing, is not only to win trophy's, but also to play more attractive football than in the previous years under De Boer.
"With Peter Bosz we think we have attracted a coach who can make our talented squad better," said Ajax director Edwin van der Sar in a press release. "The clubs he coached always played technical and attacking football and that suits Ajax. Peter is experienced and has a clear vision. We are very pleased with the fact that he comes to Ajax."
"I never planned to move to Tel Aviv and then leave after five months, but, I have been given a once in a lifetime opportunity to manage Ajax," Bosz reacted. "I always tell my children that they should follow their dreams and for me to manage this club in Holland is a dream." Endit
