Urgent: U.S.-backed Syrian rebels unleash offensive against IS capital

The U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and allied militant groups unleashed a military campaign against the de facto capital of the Islamic State (IS) in al-Raqqa province in northern Syria on Tuesday, just days after the U.S. and the SDF laid forward a plan for capturing al-Raqqa, a monitor group reported.
