Czech sends police to assist Euro 2016 in France

Xinhua, May 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

Czech will send uniformed police to France to assist their French colleagues during football Euro 2016, said Ivana Nguyenova, spokeswoman for Czech Police Presidium on Monday.

The Czech police will help keep order at stadiums, in fan zones, at airports and railway stations, said the spokeswoman in a press release.

The French Interior Ministry have asked the Czech police for assistance. Nguyenova said the Czech police will also help the French foreigner police during the championship to be held from June 10 to July 10, 2016.

But she said the Czech police will not announced the number of police to be sent to France. The Czech police will also take part in the activities of the International Police Cooperation Centre.

Czech national football team will play the title defending Spanish team, Croatia and Turkey. The Czech team will be protected by three former elite police officers who now work for a private security agency, reported local media.

Members of the police from several countries, including the Czech Republic, underwent a two-day exercise ahead of Euro 2016 at the end of March. Endit
