Over 69 mln Vietnamese voters to cast ballots in general election on Sunday

Over 69.265 million Vietnamese voters nationwide will cast their ballots for election of deputies to the country's parliament and all-level people's councils on Sunday.
The information was released at a press conference held by Vietnam's National Election Council (NEC) in capital Hanoi on Friday on the preparation of the upcoming general election.
According to a press release, there are as many as 91,476 election teams nationwide and all the electorates have been provided with voter cards.
Local authorities have been assigned to closely monitor the situation in their respective localities, actively check and solve complicated security issues, concentrate on security, safety and order in remote and border areas with ethnic minorities as well as take measures "to prevent conspiracy to destroy the election to ensure absolute safety before, during and after the election day," said the press release.
Meanwhile, those who live in some remote areas are allowed to cast votes earlier than the nationwide election date.
On Sunday, the general election to elect lawmakers to the country's parliament and members of all-level people's councils will officially kick off nationwide.
Voters will cast votes to choose 500 deputies to the 14th National Assembly (NA) of Vietnam among 870 candidates. Meanwhile, Provincial People's Councils across Vietnam will have 3,918 deputies to be vied by 6,528 candidates. At the district level, as many as 24,993 out of 41,777 candidates will be elected as council members. The respective figures for the communal level are 294,055 and 497,312.
The results of the election of deputies to the 14th NA will be announced within 20 days after the election, according to the NEC.
The first session of the 14th NA is scheduled to take place in July 2016 when state leaders of the country will be re-elected. Endit
