Algerian anti-terrorism forces on Tuesday killed a militant and arrested another one in a wide-scale operation in the province of Bouira, 120 km to the southeast of the capital city of Algiers, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

On Monday, the army troops killed two militants in Tizi Ouzou province, 140 eastern Algiers, the ministry said. Three other militants were arrested in this same operation.

A few militants affiliated to the al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) and the Islamic State are still taking refuge in the woods of central provinces, including Bouira, Boumerdes and Tizi Ouzou to the east of Algiers.
