Thai leader Prayut Chan-o-cha is leaving for Moscow on Tuesday to attend an ASEAN-Russia summit.

The Thai prime minister who is visiting Russia from Tuesday until Friday is joining other ASEAN leaders in the summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Besides the summit, Prayut is leading some 30 prominent Thai businesspersons to a business dialogue in St Peterburg on Wednesday in bid to lure prospective Russian investors to Thailand, said Thailand's Board of Investment secretary general Hiranya Sujinai on Monday.

Russia will be strongly suggested to invest in Thailand's digital, software and biological industry, aircraft manufacturing and innovation projects for which the BoI will certainly provide promotional privileges, Hiranya said.

The Thais who will attend the business dialogue in St Peterburg include Federation of Thai Industries president Jane Namchaisiri, Thai Chamber of Commerce chairman Issara Wongkusolkit and the BoI chief.

"The Russians have not invested much in Thailand so far, mostly involving tourism sector and small-sized businesses. The upcoming dialogue will hopefully prompt Russian investors to invest more in Thailand," she said. Endit
