EDA holds ammunition safety workshop in Switzerland

Xinhua, May 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

The European Defence Agency (EDA) organized an ammunition safety workshop in Bern, Switzerland, it announced on Thursday.

The primary objective of the event, which took place at the the military test center Armasuisse, was to give ammunition safety experts a platform to discuss results from a European ammunition safety test, namely a round robin test, and to provide an overview of the center's capabilities.

Twenty-three experts from nine countries joined this fourth edition of the ammunition safety workshop under the EDA.

After discussions, the workshop delivered results to participants and contributed to the further harmonization of ammunition safety test procedures, EDA said in a press release.

It said that the first test results of the round robin test demonstrated the importance of European Union (EU) networking, since all tests could only be performed in a collaborative approach.

EDA is an EU agency based in Brussels. Its primary mission is to support the member states and the Council of the EU in their effort to improve European defense capabilities. Endit
