Number of tourists in Macedonia up 16.7 pct in Q1

The number of tourists in the first quarter of 2016 in Macedonia increased by 16.7 percent year-on-year, the Macedonian State Statistical Office (SSO) said Thursday.

According to official data, in the period January-March 2016, the number of domestic tourists increased by 18.4 percent, whereas that of foreign tourists by 15.8 percent compared to the same period in 2015.

In the first quarter of 2016, the number of nights spent by the tourists increased by 21 percent, where the number of nights spent by domestic tourists increased by 29.5 percent, whereas those by foreign tourists by 15.1 percent.

The number of domestic tourists in March 2016, compared to March 2015, increased by 23.2 percent, whereas the number of foreign tourists increased by 23.4 percent. Enditem
