1st LD: Flash floods in central Indonesia kill 3, damage nearly 200 houses

Flash floods hitting South Kalimantan in central Indonesia has left 3 people dead, 1 missing and about 200 houses damaged, official of disaster agency said here on Thursday.

Days of heavy downpours were blamed for the natural disaster in Kota Baru district, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman of national disaster management agency told Xinhua.

The disaster also damaged one bridge that hampers transportation in the area, Sutopo said.

The flash floods affected nearly 1,000 people in the area, however, he said, there is no evacuation so far, he said.

Emergency relief aids have been delivered to the affected people, said Sutopo.
