Xinhua, May 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

NATO's Allied Land Command, the standing headquarters for NATO land forces discussed in anticipation of the upcoming Warsaw Summit at its 8th Corps commanders' conference in Turkish city Izmir, NATO said in a press release Wednesday.

The conference wrapped up Tuesday under the theme of "Continuous Adaptation: Defense and Deterrence through Strong Land Forces and Strong Partnerships."

It brought together senior leaders of the NATO Force and Command structures in order to develop a common shared visualization of the role of land forces in NATO and discuss challenges currently facing the alliance, the security organization said.

Seventy-five military personnel throughout the alliance took part in the two-day conference.

NATO's Allied Land Command's Deputy Commander Lieutenant General Paolo Ruggiero said: "It has resulted in great discussion on what we can expect coming out of the Warsaw Summit and the impact it will have on NATO's land domain particularly in the areas of enhanced readiness and how we can work together in the current threat environment."

The NATO summit in Warsaw will take place on July 8-9, where NATO heads of state and government will chart the course for the Alliance's adaptation to the new security environment. Endit
