Over 60 percent of basic household goods sold on the Guinean market come from China, statistics from Guinea's trade ministry have shown.
To boost economic and commercial exchanges between China and Guinea, the latter's Trade Minister Marc Yombouno met on Tuesday with Chinese ambassador in Conakry Bian Jianqiang.
During the meeting, the trade minister expressed his government's willingness to increase imports of Chinese goods which have been well received on the Guinean market.
Yombouno said Guinea had sought China's support in enhancing the capacity of the country's National Standards Bureau that falls under the trade ministry.
At the same time, the minister appealed for increased exports of local Guinean products to China, especially cashew nuts, mangoes and other Guinean farm products.
He further asked the Chinese diplomat to encourage more Chinese companies to set up operations in Guinea to promote value addition on locally produced products.
"I believe we need to reinforce our cooperation with Guinea, in a win-win framework," China's ambassador to Guinea said.
To achieve this, they agreed that the two countries should exchange reliable information on all the trade statistical data regarding the volume of trade between China and Guinea. Endit
