Supporters of Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff took to the streets on Tuesday to protest an impeachment process against her, blocking roads and public transport systems in at least 13 states and the Federal District.

MOSCOW -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed over phone on Tuesday with his U.S. and Iranian counterparts respectively, about the current situation in Syria, calling for the fulfillment of a truce regime.

A nationwide ceasefire brokered by the United States and Russia came into force on Feb. 27. Still, Syria witnessed escalating tensions threatening to undo ongoing efforts seeking to appease the humanitarian crisis. (Russia-US-Iran)

LONDON -- Uncertainty over the outcome of the European Union (EU) membership referendum figures strongly in the forecasts for UK economic growth from the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR) which sees the economy growing by 2 percent overall in 2016.

The NIESR forecast comes ahead of the June 23 UK referendum on continued EU membership, and the London-based think-tank predicted that in the event of a vote to remain in the EU growth in the economy would pick up in the second half of 2016, and into 2017 with growth next year forecast to be 2.7 percent of GDP. JALALABAD -- Some 11 persons were killed and 23 others wounded in a suicide car bombing in Afghanistan's eastern province of Nangarhar on Tuesday, the provincial government said in a statement.

One militant detonated a car bomb near the house of Malik Dehqan, a pro-government leader, in Nazyan district at around 5:30 p.m. local time. The blast killed 11 persons, including two children and the bomber, the statement said. (Afghanistan-Attack) Endi
