China exposes more offshore NGOs

Xinhua, May 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Ministry of Civil Affairs on Tuesday made public a new list of 100 offshore NGOs registered abroad by Chinese applicants.

According to Chinese regulations on non-governmental organizations, social institutions established in the mainland should be registered with civil affairs departments.

These offshore NGOs were registered by Chinese residents outside China with low registration barriers, the ministry said in a statement.

Tuesday's list is the sixth since March, including Chinese logistics industry association, Chinese architecture waterproof industry association, and China environmental training center.

The entire list of offshore NGOs exposed so far is available online, said the ministry, urging the public to confirm an NGO's status to avoid falling prey to fraud. Endi
