At least 25 people have been killed due to landslides triggered by heavy rains that hit northern Rwanda on Saturday night, local authorities said on Sunday.
Local government officials said the rains which hit Gakenke district in Northern Province, also destroyed about 300 homes. (Rwanda-Landslide)

MAIMANA, Afghanistan -- A bicycle bombing that rocked northern Afghan province Faryab's capital Maimana city on Monday wounded eight people including seven civilians, a senior police officer said.
"A bomb planted by terrorists on a bicycle exploded next to a police vehicle in Maimana city at 03:00 p.m. local time today, injuring eight people including seven civilians and a security personnel," Nazar Mohammad Khan told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Bombing)

PYONGYANG -- The top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Jong Un, has been elected chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), a newly-created post, it was announced Monday.
The announcement was made by Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly.
