Peruvian presidential hopeful Keiko Fujimori of the center-right Popular Force (FP) Party led a pre-election poll with 51.4 percent of the vote, local media reported Sunday.

In the lead up to a June 5 runoff between the winners of the first round, the survey by the polling firm Ipsos in 1,813 eligible voters showed Fujimori with a 2.8-percent lead over her conservative rival Pedro Kuczynski of the Peruvians for Change (PPK) Party, said Peruvian daily El Comercio. PARIS -- French President Francois Hollande on Sunday laid a wreath in front of a statue of Charles de Gaulle to start celebration of the 71st anniversary of the Allied victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

At the French iconic Arc de Triomphe, Hollande laid another wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier before holding a moment of silence.

CAIRO -- Armed militants shot dead eight Egyptian policemen in Cairo's southern district of Helwan Sunday, in an assault whose responsibility was claimed by Islamic State (IS) militants, according to the Interior Ministry.

Apparently, four assailants in a pickup truck intercepted the policemen in their minivan and opened fire with their automatic rifles against them, added the ministry. (Egypt-Police-Shooting)

KIGALI -- At least 25 people have been killed due to landslides triggered by heavy rains that hit northern Rwanda on Saturday night, local authorities said on Sunday.
