Morocco arrests suspect linked to extremist group in Libya

Morocco said on Friday that it arrested a person suspected of links to an extremist group active in Libya.

Moroccan Interior Ministry said in a statement that the suspect was arrested at the Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca after arriving from Libya via Tunisia.

The suspect had been wanted by the authorities since the beginning of the year after he left the country, the ministry added.

The arrested man will be brought to justice at as the investigation finishes, it noted.

Morocco has seen a growing threat from the Islamic State group. The ministry said it has busted 31 terrorist cells since 2013 and foiled "numerous terrorist plans" targeting vital national, Arab and Western interests. Endit
