Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his confidence in the future of India-China relations with progress achieved by both countries in developing their ties.

During a meeting with Han Zheng, Political Bureau Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Party Secretary of Shanghai, on Thursday, Modi said India and China can contribute to world economic growth if they collaborate with each other in trade and economic fields.

The prime minister also expressed his wish to further party-to-party relations between India and China and called for enhanced cooperation in tourism, culture and people-to-people exchanges and local-level cooperation.

Han said the successful visit made by Chinese President Xi Jinping to India in 2014 and that by Prime Minister Modi to China in 2015 resulted in important consensus on pushing forward China-India strategic cooperative partnership and building greater developmental partnership between the two sides.

He said China is willing to work with India to earnestly implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields. Endit
