UN names new Special Envoy to Guinea Bissau

The United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday named Modibo Toure as his new Special Envoy to Guinea Bissau, a statement from the UN office in Guinea Bissau has said.

Toure, a former Malian minister, replaces Miguel Trovoada from Sao Tome et Principe, whose mission ends on April 30, 2016.

Prior to his appointment, Toure was the interim humanitarian coordinator in the Central African Republic. He also served as a special adviser for the Great Lakes Region between 2013-2015. Endit
