The following are highlights of South African major media outlets on Friday.

-- Barclays plc's sell-down of its African unit got off to a smooth start on Thursday in one of the largest accelerated book-build transactions in SA.

The British parent pocketed R13.1bn from a placing of shares in Barclays Africa Group, as institutional investors eagerly snapped up the stock. (Business Day)

-- Five more schools have reportedly been set alight in Vuwani as the chaos that engulfed the area last night has flared up again.

Police are trying desperately to disperse crowds that have gathered in the cluster of villages around Vuwani, in Thohoyandou, Limpopo province. (City Press)

-- Government officials were last night scrambling to find ways to quell the fiery protests in Vuwani, Limpopo, after at least 17 schools were torched and five others vandalized this week.
