Hohhot carries out 'Internet plus' poverty-alleviation

China Daily, May 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

The city of Hohhot, Inner Mongolia will carry out "Internet plus" e-commerce poverty-alleviation and promote the construction of a logistics distribution system and service network in poor areas.

In poverty-alleviation, the city supports e-commerce enterprises to expand business in rural areas. It does this by strengthening the construction of agricultural products online sales platforms and e-commerce skills training in poverty-stricken areas, while, at the same time, giving network charge subsidies and microfinance support to poor families that open online shops.

The city will gradually cultivate an e-commerce poverty relief team through "Internet plus" pilot programs in poor areas, and set up a docking platform showing agriculture products’ origins and markets to guide farmers towards the markets and widen sales channels in poverty-stricken areas.
