The Nigerian government planned to execute 34 priority programs as part of its strategic implementation plan of the 2016 budget, Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, said Wednesday.

The 34 programs packaged by the ministry and approved by the Executive Council would help the government to realize the objectives of the 2016 budget, the minister told reporters at the end of the 67th meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

"Each of these has very clear deliverable and target as well as indicators, which will be measured to ensure that the respective ministries and departments deliver on what we intend to implement," she said.

The minister said the ministry would present quarterly reports to the Federal Executive Council on the implementation of the programs.

These 34 strategic programs are grouped under four major objectives, she added.

"They include policy governance and security, diversification of the economy, creating support for the poor and vulnerable and inflating our economy through investments," she said.

The minister told reporters that government also planned to refurbish 5,000 primary health care clinics across the country to promote health care delivery system of the country. Endit
