China's Jiangsu Suning FC failed to make the knockout stage on Wednesday as they drawed the group leaders Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors of South Korea 2-2 at the K-League team's home stadium.
Leonardo Pereira of Jeonbuk Motors scored the game opener through a penalty kick at 17 minutes into the game. Alex Teixeira Santos made the equalizer two minutes later. Joao Alves de Assis Silva of Suning earned a 2-1 lead shortly into the second half through penalty kick.
Meanwhile, group rival FC Tokyo took the lead over bottom-placed Becamex Binh Duong, and FC Tokyo will probably have 10 points with their win. If Suning could keep the 2-1 score to the end, Suning would wrap up with 11 points, 2 points more than that of Jeonbuk Motors.
However, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors initiated a fierce attack, which worked a goal at 67 minutes in the game. The draw exited Suning for the knockout stage.
Shandong Luneng FC travelled to play against Thai League champions Buriam United, and they drawed 0-0 with a squad featuring only Chinese players.
Luneng ranked second in Group F with 11 points, and will take on Group H leader Sydney FC of Australia in the knockout stage. Endit
