Jordan on Wednesday stressed the key role Belgium plays in the international coalition to fight terrorism and radical groups, state-run Petra news agency reported.

During a meeting with his Belgian counterpart Didier Reynders in Amman, Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh said the threat of terrorism represents the main challenge for the region and the entire world.

The talks covered the serious developments in Syria's Aleppo, with Judeh reaffirming Jordan's stance that calls for finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis that preserves the unity and stability of Syria.

He asserted the need to implement all international resolutions on the situation in Syria as well.

The top diplomat also highlighted burdens Jordan is facing due to hosting some 1.3 million Syrian refugees, calling for continuing aid to Jordan.

On Iraq, the two sides urged a political solution that is inclusive of all the segments of Iraqi society.

They also discussed efforts to revive peace talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis based on the UN relevant resolutions and the 2002 Arab Peace initiative leading to the creation of an independent Palestinian state within the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Belgian official voiced support for Jordan and its key role in Mideast peace and in providing services to Syrian refugees. Endit
