The following are the highlights of Zambia's major media outlets on Wednesday.

-- A former head of Zambia's central bank said frequent changes to the mining tax regime erodes investor confidence and tempt investors to come up with creative ways to siphon money out of the country.

Former Bank of Zambia (BoZ) Governor Caleb Fundanga said the frequent changes to the mining fiscal regime since 2008 was not good for the investors and the country. (THE POST)

-- The Zambian government has advised journalists to work within the law and uphold professionalism in the execution of their duties.

Minister of Information and Broadcasting Chishimba Kambwili said journalists who steal classified documents, bug private phone conservations and wantonly defame people should know that there are laws in place and that they will have themselves to blame if the law catches up with them.

The Zambian minister, who was speaking during the commemoration of the 2016 World Press Freedom Day, said the government was disappointed that media houses, especially print media, have continued to act unprofessionally. (ZAMBIA DAILY MAIL)

-- Zambia's electoral body is awaiting a ruling from the Zambia Public Procurement Authority before awarding a contract for the printing of ballot papers for this year's general elections.

Vice-President Inonge Wina said that the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) had issued a notice to award the contract to Alghurair Printing and Publishing LLC of Dubai but the final announcement will be made after the public procurement authority gives a ruling.

A South African based printing firm has opposed the electoral body's decision to award the contract to the Dubai firm while stakeholders have rejected plans to print the ballot papers in Dubai, claiming the electoral body had colluded with the ruling party to rig the August 11 elections. -- Zambia's ruling party said the party will win this year's general elections despite senior party members defecting to the opposition parties.

Patriotic Front (PF) secretary-general Davies Chama , who was reacting to the decision by former Zambian President Michael Sata's son, Mulenga, who has joined the main opposition party, the United Party for National Development (UPND), said there was no doubt that the ruling party will win the August 11 elections.

While describing Sata's defection as unfortunate, the ruling party chief said his decision was incapable of destabilizing the party.

The ruling party has suffered setbacks ahead of the general elections following the defections to opposition parties of high ranking officials such as former vice-president Guy Scott. (TIMES OF ZAMBIA) Endit
