Cameroonian leader arrives Nigeria for state visit

Xinhua, May 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Cameroonian leader Paul Biya arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday afternoon for a two-day state visit to the West African superpower on the invitation of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Biya was accompanied by his wife and senior Cameroonian government officials. The delegation was received by Buhari at the Presidential Palace in Abuja.

During the visit, the Nigerian leader and his Cameroonian counterpart will hold talks on "issues of common interest", including ongoing bilateral and regional cooperation against terrorism, cross-border crimes and violent extremism.

A Nigerian presidency statement said new agreements on trade and economic relations between Nigeria and Cameroon will be concluded and signed during Biya's state visit.

The statement added "a joint communiqué on the visit and the talks between the two presidents and their officials will be issued before President Biya's departure from Abuja on Wednesday". Endit
