China is leading importer of Senegal's groundnut oil: official data

Senegal has so far exported 178,168 tons of processed groundnut oil during the 2015-2016 agricultural season, local media has reported.

According to official data, Senegal's farming season ended last month with the country having exported 266,720 tons of processed groundnut oil.

Other major importers included Vietnam (88,024 tons), Mali (1,042 tons), Indonesia (800 tons) and Cote d'Ivoire (868 tons).

In 2015, Senegal's groundnut production grew to over one million tons, up 600,000 on the previous year.

Groundnut is the largest cash crop and main source of income for most Senegalese farmers. Endit
