Alinghi takes first place in Extreme Sailing Series in Qingdao

Xinhua, April 30, 2016 Adjust font size:

Swiss yacht Alinghi finished first place after the second day of the Qingdao race in the 2016 ISAF Extreme Sailing Series on Saturday.

The yacht named Sail Portugal, which took part in the sailing series for the first time this year, are tied with Alinghi on 61 points. But Alinghi won two first prizes out of six rounds while Sail Portugal had none, the Swiss team was ranked in front.

"We are very excited at winning the first place today. Although we didn't do well in the starting line, we tried our best and the results were satisfactory," said Alinghi skipper Arnaud Psarofaghis.

"Wind speed was not powerful enough and unpredictable today, but our team work and communication were perfect," said Diogo Cayolla, skipper of Sail Portugal.

Qingdao was not strange for Diogo Cayolla, as he attended the sailing events of the Beijing Olympic Games here in 2008.

The Act 2 of the 2016 ISAF Extreme Sailing Series takes place in Qingdao from April 29 to May 2.

It marks the 10th anniversary of the ISAF Extreme Sailing Series this year, which has visited Qingdao six times in a row. Endit
