Two people were killed after a light aircraft crashed Saturday morning in North Yorkshire, northern England, local police confirmed.

"We can now confirm that sadly, two men, the pilot and passenger in the aircraft that crashed near Castle Howard, died in the crash," North Yorkshire Police said.

North Yorkshire Police said it received calls from members of the public at around 10:40 a.m. local time that an aircraft crashed in fields near Castle Howard.

Emergency services, including firefighters, ambulance, have been sent to the site, while the Air Accident Investigation Branch has been informed.

The identities of victims haven't been released yet and investigation is underway.

As roads in the area have been closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident, local police advised people to keep away from the area. Endit
