The following are news highlights in Ethiopia's major media outlets on Saturday.

-- Ethiopian Christians celebrated Good Friday with different spiritual activities on Friday. Various religious services delivered in different churches across the country.

-- FAO seeks 10 million dollars to provide underserved districts with seeds in Ethiopia, prevent further rise in food insecurity.

With just six weeks left before the start of the main cropping season in Ethiopia, FAO is calling for urgent funding to help farmers sow their fields and prevent drought-hit areas of the country from falling deeper into hunger and food insecurity.

If seeds are not delivered in time, help will be too late to secure a decent harvest from the imminent meher season, which produces 85 percent of the nation's food supply, the UN agency said Friday. (Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation/EBC)

-- The Ethiopian Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Natural Gas said it is preparing a regulation which compels companies engaged in mining operation to contribute money for the development of the areas where they are mining. The new regulation makes investors' voluntary contribution binding.
