The following are highlights of leading Nigerian media outlets on Friday.

-- Governors of the 36 states of the federation, Thursday, pushed for a new fiscal restructuring plan due to the present economic realities in their states, which had made it impossible for them to pay workers' salaries. This is despite bailout funds advanced by the federal government to the states a few months ago. (Vanguard)

-- The Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, on Thursday accused former President Goodluck Jonathan of favoring state governors elected on the platform of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), during his regime.

He specifically accused the former President of doling out 2 billion naira (more than 10 million U.S. dollars) from the Ecological Fund to each of the PDP governors without considering giving same to governors of the All Progressives Congress. (The Punch)

-- The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) may be heading for a showdown with English Premiership club, Arsenal, over the release of Alex Iwobi for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
