Industrial production in Macedonia up 10.7 pct in Q1

The Macedonian State Statistical Office (SSO) on Wednesday said the industrial production index in the first quarter of 2016 was up 10.7 percent year-on-year.

According to SSO, the industrial production volume index in March 2016 increased by 8.9 percent compared with the same period a year earlier.

The industrial production in the section of mining and quarrying in March 2016, in comparison with the same period in 2015, dropped by 7.5 percent, while in the section of manufacturing it grew by 15.4 percent. In the section electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, it dropped by 14.2 percent.

The increase in manufacturing was mostly due to increased production in food products, beverages, apparels and non-metallic mineral products, according to SSO. Endit
