Bulgaria allocates 0.5 mln USD to support Afghan Army

The Bulgarian government on Wednesday approved 0.5 million U.S. dollars here to support the NATO-Afghan National Army (ANA) Trust Fund for the period 2018-2020, officials said.

Thus, Bulgaria would continue its participation in international efforts to achieve lasting security and stability in Afghanistan, the government said in a statement.

Security and stability in Afghanistan "will have a positive impact on the conditions that cause emigrant flow from the country to Europe, and will reduce the migratory pressure on European Union countries," the statement said.

Bulgaria's contribution to the fund was the same for the previous three-year period, the government said.

Bulgaria currently has 84 soldiers in Afghanistan as a part of the NATO-led Resolute Support mission. Endit
