China urges U.S. to handle Taiwan issue properly

Xinhua, April 27, 2016 Adjust font size:

A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Wednesday urged the United States to oppose Taiwan independence and handle issues related to Taiwan properly.

An Fengshan of the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office made the remarks at a press conference when he was asked to comment on a measure passed last week by the U.S. Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives to reaffirm U.S. support to Taiwan.

Stressing that the Taiwan issue is China's domestic affair in which other countries should not intervene, An demanded the United States abide by the one-China policy and the three China-U.S. joint communiques.

An urged the United States to do more to promote the peaceful development of relations across the Taiwan Strait. Endit
