Ghana U-20 key players' profiles for the friendly match against China's U-19

Xinhua, April 27, 2016 Adjust font size:

China's U-19 will play Ghana's U-20 national team in an international friendly next Tuesday.

The match, which promises to be exciting, will be honored at the newly-constructed China-aided sports stadium in Cape Coast to unveil the 15,000 capacity edifice.

The multi-purpose stadium was constructed by the China Jiangxi Cooperation for International Economic and Technical Cooperation.

Xinhua profiles four key players of the Ghanaian youth team: Kingsley Nana Fobi, Dauda Mohammed, Isaac Twum and Gideon Mensah.

Kingsley Nana Fobi

Fobi is a member of the Black Satellites. The stalwart defender was born on September 20, 1998, and a product of Right to Dream Academy, a soccer academy that is delivering world class coaching and a specialized program of personal development and leadership skills to some of the brightest but under-privileged young football prospects in Ghana and Africa as a whole.

The talented right-back was a member of the Black Satellites team that played in the 2015 FIFA world cup in New Zealand.

Dauda Mohammed

Dauda Mohammed is a striker in the Ghana U-20 squad. He was born on February 20, 1998. The young attacker plays for former Ghana premier league champions Asante Kotoko, scoring important goals for the Kumasi-based club. The young lad is noted for his fighting spirit and determination as well as grit and perseverance. He shot to fame when he scored the winning goal against Asante Kotoko's archrivals Hearts of Oak during a league match in Accra last year. He is fast becoming the attacking bridesmaid of his club.

Dauda was a member of the 2015 Ghana Olympics team that featured in the All African Games.

Evans Mensah

Evans Mensah is a left-footed midfield dynamo of the Black Satellites born on February 9, 1998. The 18-year-old has hugely impressed his club, Inter Allies, since the take-off of the premier league this year, earning him a late call-up into the senior national soccer team, the Black Stars, as they prepared to face Mozambique in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Accra last month.

The pace of Mensah, coupled with his good tackling abilities, makes him an effective winger when deployed on the wings. He has good dribbling skills and is not afraid to take on an opponent during a game.

Isaac Twum

Isaac Twum is a young Ghana international who plays for premier league side Inter Allies in the Port City of Tema.

Twum was a member of the local Black Stars squad which played in the 2015 COSAFA Cup.

The young midfielder was also part of the 2015 Ghana U-17 national team which got disqualified from playing in the African Championship due to age-cheating.

Currently, he is among the 25 players of the home-based Black Stars team that will play Japan in an international friendly next month. He is said to be a good reader in the middle for the Black Satellites.

Gideon Mensah

Mensah is a defender of the Ghana U-20 team. Born on July 18, 1998, the talented left-back is a registered player of the West Africa Football Academy in Ghana which is currently lying fifth on the ongoing premier league pecking order. The promising defender has had trials with Portuguese side Benfica and French Ligue 1 outfit Lille OSC. He is well noted for controlling his defense with finesse and puts fear into opponents' attacking line. Endit
