Tokyo stocks closed lower Tuesday as a lackluster start following a drop in oil prices and Wall Street's sluggish performance overnight was followed by a circumspect market mood ahead of central bank policy meetings in both the U.S. and Japan.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 86.02 points, or 0.49 percent, from Monday to end the day at 17,353.28.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Tuesday moved up 10.07 points, or 0.71 percent to close at 1,418.78 points.
Some 11.74 billion shares worth 43.12 billion baht (about 1.23 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

SINGAPORE, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Singapore shares closed 0.19 percent lower on Tuesday, as investors continued to wait for the outcome of U.S. Federal Reserve's policy decision.
Singapore's benchmark Straits Times Index rose 5.62 points to 2,894.66 points. Trading volume was 848 million shares worth 963 million Singapore dollars. Advancers outnumbered decliners 207 to 190, while 514 stocks did not move.

SHANGHAI -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.61 percent, at 2,964.7 points.
The smaller Shenzhen index closed 1.02 percent higher at 10,209.9 points. The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.36 percent to close at 2,155.7 points.

DHAKA -- Bangladesh's DSE (Dhaka Stock Exchange) Broad Index closed Tuesday at 4,321.63 points, down 39.69 points or about 0.92 percent Monday's finish.
Total turnover increased to about 3.44 billion taka (about 44.05 million U.S. dollars) on Tuesday from about 3.31 billion taka (about 42.46 million U.S. dollars) on Monday.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Tuesday. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,692.50, down 22.01 points or 1.30 percent, and the Emas was at 11,745.26 down 157.63 points or 1.34 percent.
Turnover increased to 2.91 billion shares valued at 2.33 billion ringgit Malaysia(591.37 million U.S. dollars), compared with 1.85 billion shares valued at 1.64 billion ringgit Malaysia(419.38 million U.S. dollars) on Monday.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed lower by 64.76 points, or 1.33 percent, to a level of 4,814.09 on Tuesday.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 81.01 points on Tuesday, up 0.09 points, or 0.12 percent, against the previous trading session.
A total of over 49.780 million shares worth some 603.610 billion Vietnamese dong (some 27.07 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Tuesday, an increase of 2.46 percent in volume and a decrease of 10.27 percent in value against the previous trading session.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 598.48 points on Tuesday, up 6.9 points, or 1.17 percent, gainst the previous trading day's closing session.
About 176.652 million shares worth 3.266 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (149.32 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 116 stocks went up, 102 stocks fell down, while 73 stocks remained unchanged.
