About 33 militants have been killed and 29 others wounded in fresh military operations across Afghanistan, said the country's Defense Ministry on Tuesday.

"Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) carried out military operations in Kunar, Nangarhar, Laghman, Wardak, Zabul, Kandahar, Herat, Baghlan, Balkh, Jawzjan, Faryab, Kunduz and Helmand provinces within the last 24 hours. As a result 33 armed Taliban members were killed and 29 other wounded," the ministry said in a statement providing daily operational updates.

The ANSF supported by the Afghan army's artillery and air force also found and seized weapons and ammunition besides defusing several rounds of landmines and roadside bombs, said the statement.

The statement also confirmed loss of one Afghan army soldier over the same period.

The Taliban militant group has yet to make comments. Enditem
