Albania's bad loan rate rises after slight fall

Xinhua, April 26, 2016 Adjust font size:

The rate of defaulted loans in Albania increased to 18.9 percent in the first two months of this year, the Albanian Association of Banks said on Tuesday.

Figures released by the association showed the level of bad loans in the country slightly decreased to 18.2 percent in December 2015, but rose again in the following two months, indicating that citizens and businesses are still having problems repaying their loans.

The decrease last year was a consequence of deleting some of the bad loans from the balance sheets, according to the Albanian Association of Banks.

The Bank of Albania also released the figure in a statement, but put the defaulted loans rate in December 2015 at a lower 15.3 percent. Endi
