Juventus secures Serie A title with 3 matches to go

Xinhua, April 26, 2016 Adjust font size:

"Old Lady" Juventus already secured its fifth Serie A championship in a run with three games to go after Napoli was beaten 1-0 at Roma on Monday.

Juventus stand on top of the 20-team standings on 85 points after winning 2-1 at Fiorentina on Sunday. Napoli, second on 73 points following Monday's loss, saw their slim hopes of lifting the title dashed after 35 rounds.

It was Juve's 32nd Italian league title, not including the two which were stripped after the 2006 match-fixing scandal known as Calciopoli.

Juventus also became the first club to win five straight titles twice.

Last-place Hellas Verona beat AC Milan 2-1 with a stoppage-time free kick from Luca Siligardi.

Relegation-threatened Carpi edged to a 1-0 win over Empoli. Endit
