BRATISLAVA, April 25 (Xinhua) - Slovak Parliamentary Chairman Andrej Danko underwent a successful stomach surgery at the National Institute of Oncology (NUO) here on Monday, confirmed NUO director Jozef Dolinsky.

"Danko is conscious and communicating. The surgery took almost three hours as surgeons had to remove part of his stomach due to abnormal-looking areas. He will remain in hospital for 10 to 14 days," said Dolinsky.

Meanwhile, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has been in hospital nearly two weeks as well. According to Deputy Prime Minister Peter Pellegini, he is feeling better after undergoing a heart surgery here on April 22.

"Fico has started recuperating. He could come back to work in a few weeks," said Pellegrini.

Dolinsky said he appreciated that Danko and Fico underwent surgeries here in Slovakia, which he considers to be a proof of the quality of the country's health care system. Endit
