Cambodian transport minister, China's Exim Bank senior official discuss cooperation

Cambodian Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol met with Jiang Juhua, general manager of the Concessional Loan Department of the Export-Import Bank of China, here on Monday to discuss ways to broaden cooperation, according to a news statement.

"The purpose of the meeting was to discuss infrastructure improvement priorities that the Export-Import Bank of China can focus on financing," said the statement released from the ministry after the meeting. "Priorities were based on the most effective means of improving the economy."

The minister requested Jiang to expedite the loan agreements for Road 51 and Ring Road number two, the statement said, adding that he also asked Jiang to support Cambodia in finding financing scheme for the construction of an expressway from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville, which will greatly enhance the economic development of Cambodia.

"Both sides also discussed inland water transport, railway, airport and other road network in Cambodia," it added.

Meanwhile, Sun expressed his appreciation to the Export-Import Bank of China for its support for the infrastructure rehabilitation and construction in Cambodia. Endit
