Chinese customs busts fake Adidas sneaker export case

Xinhua, April 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

Customs in east China's Zhejiang Province have busted a case of counterfeit Adidas sneakers being sold on a cross-border e-commerce site.

In less than a month in late 2015, customs officers intercepted 1,181 pairs of "Adidas" sneakers in 1,049 parcels, the customs of Hangzhou, the provincial capital, said on Monday.

The seller made more than 200,000 U.S. dollars within a year by selling the shoes abroad on Alibaba, according to the investigation of the e-commerce giant.

Fu Jianping with Hangzhou customs said following the successful operation, customs and Alibaba would jointly investigate rights infringements through information sharing and big data analysis.
