2 soldiers killed in bomb attack in SE Turkey

Xinhua, April 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

Two soldiers of the Turkish security forces were killed and two others wounded in a bomb attack by the militants of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) in southeastern Turkey on Monday, private Dogan news agency reported.

The handmade bomb, planted by the PKK, exploded very close to a building when the Turkish troops were launching the military operation in Nusaybin town of Mardin province bordering Syria, according to the report.

The wounded were sent to a military hospital in the region for treatment, said the report.

Since a two-year cease-fire between the government and the PKK disintegrated last July, Turkish security forces have launched a major campaign against the PKK in southeast Turkey, leaving over 260 members of Turkey's security forces and thousands of PKK members dead.

The PKK, waging its separatist war against Turkey since 1984, is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union. Endit
