One South Korean marine was dead, with another seriously injured, in an incident where a self-propelled artillery turned over on a road in the country's southeastern region, local broadcaster YTN reported on Monday.

The self-propelled artillery, which was moving for field tactical trainings, tipped over at about 10:15 a.m. local time (0115 GMT) on a road in the southeastern port city of Pohang in North Gyeongsang province.

Among seven marines aboard the vehicle, a 22-year-old corporal was killed and a 23-year-old staff sergeant was in a critical condition, the broadcaster reported citing military authorities.

When the incident occurred, a total of 18 self-propelled artillery vehicles of the first Marine division were moving down a downhill road for field tactical trainings.

The exact cause of the incident is still under investigation. Enditem
