2 militants including Taliban local commander killed in Afghan northern Takhar province

Two militants including a Taliban local commander were killed in northern Takhar province with Taluqan as its capital 245 km north of Kabul on Sunday night, provincial police spokesman Abdul Khail Asir said Monday.

"A group of Taliban rebels stormed a police checkpoint in Khawja Bahaudin district on Sunday night and police returned fire killing two insurgents including Taliban local commander Mullah Hassan and injured another," Asir told Xinhua.

No security personnel has been hurt, the official contended.

Taliban outfit has not commented. Endite
