Up to three Taliban militants had been killed in two separate premature blasts in countryside, authorities said on Saturday.
"A Taliban mine expert named Shukar Ullah was killed after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) he was planting along a road in Bala Buluk District, Farah province went off accidentally late Friday," Afghan Interior Ministry said in a statement.
The Taliban militant group has been using IEDs to target security forces but the lethal weapons also inflict casualties on civilians, according to military officials.
Also on Friday, two militants lost their lives in a similar incident in Maiwand District of southern Kandahar province, according to an army source.
The conflict-related violence has left 3,540 civilians dead and over 7,450 others injured in 2015, according to figures released by the UN mission in the country.
Out of the casualties, 713 civilians were killed and more than 1, 650 injured by IED attacks last year across the country, according to the figures. Enditem
