Pejcic sets world record at Rio 2016 test event

Xinhua, April 23, 2016 Adjust font size:

Croatian shooter Snjezana Pejcic broke the women's 50m rifle 3 positions world record en route to the gold medal at the Rio de Janeiro stage of the ISSF World Cup on Friday.

Pejcic set a new mark of 594 points in the qualifying round before posting 458.8 points in the medal match to beat Germany's Barbara Engleder by 3.2 points.

Mongolia's Nandinzaya Gankhuyag finished third with 443.3 points.

The competition is also serving as a test event for the Rio 2016 Olympics, but Pejcic said she is not yet thinking about returning to Rio in August.

"The Olympics are still far away, I need to focus on the next two World Cup stages in Munich and Baku," she said. "The Games are a completely different story." Endit
